5 Smoothies you MUST try!

5 Smoothies you MUST try!

Hi guys!! If you know ya girl, then you know I LOVE me a good smoothie! Whether it’s in the morning, after a workout or just a way for me to get my greens, I can always rely on a quick smoothie to fuel up, so I wanted to share some of my favorite recipes with you!!

First up, my go-to Morning Smoothie! This one is made with cold brew and a plant based powder in a yummy chocolate flavor! This smoothie not only tastes BOMB, but it’ll have you fired up and ready to take on your morning workout or just give you that little pep in your step to get your day going!

  • 1 scoop chocolate plant based protein powder
  • ½ frozen banana
  • 1 date
  • 1 scoop greek yogurt
  • 1 serving of cold brew coffee
  • 1 tbsp almond butter
  • ¼ cup almond milk

Looking for a good post-workout smoothie? I’ve GOT YOU! This Post-Workout Green Smoothie is filled with easy ingredients like spinach, banana, coconut water & chia seeds which are all great for refueling your energy, boosting electrolytes and a great source of antioxidants to help you recover faster!

  • 2 handfuls of fresh baby spinach
  • 1 cup frozen pineapple chunks
  • ½ cup coconut water
  • 1 scoop plain greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled

It’s important we keep our immune system strong, especially during these times (F OFF COVID) which is why I’m a HUGE fan of antioxidant rich berries!! This Berry Smoothie literally has ALL of the berries (strawberries, blueberries, blackberries & raspberries) plus fresh kiwi which is LOADED with vitamin C making it the perfect addition to any immune-boosting smoothie!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • ¾ cup frozen raspberries
  • ½ cup frozen blueberries
  • ½ cup frozen blackberries
  • 2 kiwifruit peeled & sliced
  • 1 cup water

Ok real talk, how is it already August?! If you’re just as bummed about summer coming to a quick end as I am, I’ve got the perfect smoothie to help from feeling that summertime sadness (cue Lana Del Rey in the background). This summer inspired smoothie I dubbed Mango Madness, not only tastes good but it’s good FOR YOU-mangos help in digestion, promote eye health and even help to keep that summer glow poppin’ since they’re filled with skin-friendly vitamins C & A!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup coconut water
  • ½ cup coconut yogurt (or plain greek yogurt)
  • 1/2 an orange peeled
  • 1 ½ cup frozen mango
  • 1 medium carrot, coarsely grated

If green smoothies turn you off because of their color, then I have the perfect alternative for you to still sneak some nutrient-rich veggies into your daily routine! One word: Cauliflower! Cauliflower is high in fiber, antioxidants, vitamins B & C and I PROMISE you won’t even taste it in your smoothie! This Blueberry Banana Smoothie is a great way for you to still get all of the vital nutrients you need without sacrificing the taste or color of your smoothie!

Ingredients

  • 3 cauliflower florets
  • 1 frozen banana
  • ½ cup frozen blueberries
  • 2 tbsp cashews
  • 1 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup water

At the end of the day, when it comes to making smoothies…DO YOU! Swap out…throw in…take out…make whatever adjustments you need to help make YOU feel good BUT just keep in mind a few great smoothie tips:

-I personally love almond milk or oat milk in my smoothies, but IF you’re trying to cut cals, water works perfectly fine too

-Remember: whatever you blend should be exactly what you’d eat if it WASN’T blended!

-Pre-package and portion your smoothies in little bags and freeze them, so when you’re in a rush you can just throw it all in right away.

-Add in spinach, chia seeds, flax seeds, etc whenever you can.. I’m all for easily hidden nutrients!

– A good blender is REALLY key.. I love my VitaMix. I know they’re expensive, but it’s worth it!

-If you’re doing a smoothie with less fruit and need to make it sweeter, I add honey. I actually add honey to like ALL my smoothies no matter what because I love it!

-To make a smoothie creamier, this sounds weird, but I love frozen riced cauliflower. You’re going to be like- “ew, hell nah” . BUT JUST TRY IT! Makes great texture.
