Low Carb Burger Skillet

This recipe is the best if you're craving a burger without wanting any of the guilt. Packed full of flavor and protein, it's so easy to make and tastes even better than it looks - especially with my "secret sauce"!!
Course Main Course
Cuisine American
Servings 4

Ingredients

  • 1 package ground beef about 10-12 ounces
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, (I used a fresh block and grated the cheese myself!)
  • 1 large onion, sliced into ribbons
  • 1 cup romaine lettuce, shredded
  • 1/2 cup tomatoes, sliced
  • 1/2 avocado, to top
  • Seasonings: garlic powder, salt, and pepper

For the "Secret Sauce"

  • 2 tablespoons mayo
  • 1 tablespoon ground mustard
  • 1 tablespoon relish
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup

Instructions

  • Begin by preparing your veggies: slice your onions, romaine lettuce, and tomatoes.
  • In a skillet, sauté your onions with a drizzle of olive oil until they are translucent and tender, approximately 7-8 minutes. Once done, set them aside.
  • In the same skillet or a separate one, cook your ground beef over medium heat with a little olive oil and your seasonings.
  • Once the ground beef is cooked through, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over it. Reduce the heat to low and cover the skillet with a lid to allow the cheese to melt for 2-3 minutes.
  • While the cheese melts, prepare the "secret sauce" by combining mayo, ketchup, relish, and mustard in a small bowl until well combined.
  • Once the cheese has melted to your liking, add the sautéed onions, chopped romaine lettuce, fresh sliced avocado, and tomatoes to the skillet.
  • Drizzle your sauce on top, and enjoy! xx
