High-Protein 3 Ingredient Sesame Seed Salt Bagels

I’ve posted about these like 12 times before but it’s because they are truly THAT. GOOD. Years ago I did this recipe with plain Greek yogurt, and that works great too, but swapping for cottage cheese creates a better texture I like even more!!!! Homemade bagels sound complicated to make, but these are fool-proof. Plus, there’s something about knowing exactly the ingredients going inside what you’re eating when you make things at home. Absolutely delicious 10/10
Total Time 45 minutes
Course Breakfast, Snack
Servings 4 bagels

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • Egg wash, to brush on top
  • Sesame seeds & flaky salt, to top

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, a silicone baking mat, or use a pre-greased baking sheet to prevent sticking.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, cottage cheese, and baking powder. Mix until a dough forms.
  • If the dough is too sticky, lightly flour your hands or add a small amount of extra flour.
  • Divide the dough into 4 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball, then use your fingers to create a hole in the center, forming a bagel shape.
  • Place the bagels on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with the egg wash to give them a golden finish during baking.
  • Sprinkle sesame seeds and flaky salt generously on top.
  • Bake the bagels for 25–30 minutes or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
  • Let the bagels cool slightly on a wire rack before serving. Enjoy them warm or at room temperature.

Optional Additions:

  • Add garlic powder, onion powder, or herbs to the dough for extra flavor.
Use everything bagel seasoning instead of sesame seeds for a twist.
